A cirurgia piezoelétrica tem propriedades que permitem exclusivamente o corte do tecido ósseo, a proporcionar a preservação dos tecidos moles, tal como mucosa, vasos sanguíneos e fibras nervosas. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo abordar os fatores determinantes na escolha da técnica cirúrgica com a utilização do piezoelétrico para a remoção dos terceiros molares inferiores. A fim de identificar os estudos relevantes, realizou-se uma busca através do motor de pesquisa PubMed. A seleção dos estudos respeitou os critérios de inclusão e exclusão pré-definidos. Apesar do elevado custo do equipamento e do maior tempo operatório, as vantagens inerentes a técnica tornam sua aplicação clínica favorável, propiciando ao paciente conforto e bem-estar na recuperação.
Piezoelectric surgery has properties that exclusively allow cutting the bone tissue, providing the preservation of soft tissue, such as mucosa, blood vessels and nerve fibers. The objective of this work was to describe the factors determinants in the choice of surgical technique with the use of piezoelectric for the removal of lower third molars. In order to identify the relevant studies, a search was performed using the PubMed search engine. The selection of studies respected the pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Despite the high cost of equipment and the longer surgical time, the inherent advantages of the technique make this clinical application favorable, providing comfort and well-being in the patient’s recovery.
