Abstract(s)
The Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome is a chronic, progressive disease that seriously affects health and quality of life. Implications include frequent micro-awakenings, sleep fragmentation, and reduced sleep efficiency, resulting in excessive daytime sleepiness. It is characterized by recurrent episodes of partial (hypopnea) or total (apnea) obstruction of the upper airway during sleep, associated with the maintenance of inspiratory efforts, for at least 10 seconds. Several treatments have been proposed, among which are the intraoral devices of mandibular advancement. This narrative bibliographic review aims to show how this pathology can be diagnosed and treated in the perspective of the Dentist.
