Abstract(s)
This graduation project presents the theme “Healthy Lifestyles: contributions to the prevention of osteoporosis”. Currently, osteoporosis is considered worldwide to be a public health problem, with prevalence in women who begin menopause. It is considered that the prevention of the disease, by changing health behaviours (diet and regular physical activity), is of great importance during childhood, adolescence and manhood. In this context and according to the methodology developed by this team, we did a descriptive and quantitative study of a sample of 23 individuals of female gender with a mean age of 24,26 years. Entitled “Healthy living: contributions to the prevention of osteoporosis”, the study was carried out in order to identify the lifestyles adopted by the students of the 3rd year, of the CLE of the UFP – Porto, regarding to physical activity and diet practices. It was essential to collect and subsequent screen the data. Concerning this aspect we proceeded to a survey based on a questionnaire with closed questions. The analysis and interpretation of the data showed that the sample surveyed demonstrated a low rate of physical activity practice and the use of a much diversified diet. This work should be seen as a first approach to the subject, emphasizing only those aspects related to the primary prevention of the disease.
