Abstract(s)
Entretanto, alguns
Local anesthetics have several advantages in dental medical procedures, however, they have vasodilation as a disadvantage. With the discovery and introduction of vasoconstrictors, this problem was solved. However, some dentists, when caring for cardiac patients, still feel insecure about the use of this substance in their procedures. In this study, a bibliographic survey was carried out in the databases and books with the aim of clarifying the subject. In the results obtained, it was found that felipressin, a synthetic derivative of the hormone vasopressin, is a vasoconstrictor referenced in the literature for use in cardiac patients, as it acts on non-adrenergic receptors, which gives this vasoconstrictor the property of not having important arterial and cardiac effects. The relevance of felipressin in dental medicine was also verified, although there is still no consensus in the literature, which is why its use in Portugal is still not so widespread.
