| dc.description.abstract | Os agressores sexuais têm sido o objeto de estudo ao longo dos últimos anos, muito devido às características específicas deste tipo de agressores, mas também devido às sequelas apresentadas pelas vítimas deste tipo de crimes, nomeadamente a nível psicológico. Tudo isto contribui para que os agressores sexuais e os processos judiciais a eles inerentes sejam observados como uma das maiores preocupações a nível social. Os primeiros estudos sobre fatores que contribuem para a severidade das penas em agressores sexuais e agressores violentos são datados no início dos anos 80, por oposição aos estudos acerca dos fatores da concessão da liberdade condicional, datados do início deste século. Esta dissertação visa colmatar o défice existente ao nível do conhecimento científico nesta área, procurando contribuir para o conhecimento da população ex-reclusa em Portugal, através da caracterização de agressores sexuais e agressores violentos ao nível das características demográficas e variáveis jurídico-penais. Pretende-se ainda analisar os fatores que influenciam as decisões judiciais da duração da pena e da fase de concessão da liberdade condicional em cada tipo de agressores. Neste sentido, a presente dissertação de mestrado está organizada em formato de artigo científico, que se inicia com uma revisão da literatura acerca das características dos agressores sexuais (violadores e abusadores sexuais), as diferenças entre estes ofensores e ofensores violentos e os fatores que influenciam as decisões judiciais de ambos. De seguida apresenta-se o estudo empírico de índole exploratória. Por fim, são descritas as limitações e contributos do estudo, bem como sugestões para estudos futuros nesta área. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Sexual offenders have been the subject of study over recent years, largely due to the specific characteristics of these types of offenders, but also due to the aftermath faced by victims of these types of crimes, particularly at psychological level. All of this contributes to the fact that sexual offenders and the judicial processes inherent to them are seen as one of the major social concerns. The first studies on factors contributing to the severity of sentences in sexual offenders and violent offenders date back to the early 80s, as opposed to studies on the factors of granting parole, dated from the beginning of this century. This dissertation aims to fill the existing deficit at the level of scientific knowledge in this area, seeking to contribute to the knowledge of the ex-prisoner population in Portugal, through the characterization of sexual offenders and violent offenders at the level of demographic characteristics and juridico-penal variables. It also intends to analyze the factors that influence judicial decisions on the duration of the sentence and the phase of granting parole in each type of offenders. In this sense, this master's dissertation is organized in the format of a scientific article, which begins with a review of the literature about the characteristics of sexual offenders (rapists and sexual abusers), the differences between these offenders and violent offenders and the factors that influence the judicial decisions of both. Then an empirical study of exploratory nature is presented. Finally, the limitations and contributions of the study are described, as well as suggestions for future studies in this area. | pt_PT |
