| dc.description.abstract | A neuropatia diabética é uma patologia cada vez mais presente no nosso dia-a-dia. Com uma população cada vez mais envelhecida e um estilo de vida menos saudável, o risco de diabetes mellitus aumenta na população mundial, bem como todas as doenças a ela associadas. Pretende-se com este trabalho fazer uma breve revisão sobre a neuropatia diabética e todas as complicações a ela associadas. A Organização Mundial de Saúde estima que entre 2004 e 2030, a prevalência da diabetes em todo mundo seja de 3,4 milhões de pessoas. Na neuropatia diabética o sistema nervoso é afetado. Podendo o indivíduo apresentar uma diversidade de sintomas. Existe um vasto leque de neuropatias que são separadas de uma forma geral, em generalizadas e focal (multifocal). O tratamento da neuropatia diabética consiste numa terapêutica para diminuir a sintomatologia e não para curar a doença, sendo por isso essencial o controlo glicémico em doentes no qual tenha sido detetado diabetes desde o início da doença. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Nowadays, Diabetic Neuropathy is a current pathology with a high prevalence. With the aging of the population and also an unhealthier life style, diabetes mellitus is rising as well as all the associated diseases. With this work we intend to make a brief review about diabetic neuropathy and all the complications developed. World Health Organization estimates that between 2004 and 2030 diabetes prevalence will be of 3.4 million people worldwide. In diabetic neuropathy the nervous system is affected and the patient can present a large variety of symptoms. There are many types of neuropathies that are classified as general or focal (multifocal). Diabetic neuropathy treatment consists in a therapy that decreases sintomatology but doesn't cure the disease, therefore it is essential a glycemic control mainly in patients in which diabetes was not early diagnosed. | pt_PT |
