Abstract(s)
A dental restoration aims to rehabilitate the dentition’s problems caused not only by the presence of carious lesions, but also the occurrence of fractures and dental wear, corresponding to most of the clinical work performed in Dentistry. Currently, considering the elaboration method of the restoration, two rehabilitation options are available – direct or indirect. This dissertation proposes to verify, through literature analysis, if there are differences in the longevity of direct and indirect partial restorations in posterior teeth, made in composite resin, and also to determine which are the most common causes of failure associated with each type of restoration. A bibliographic research was performed in PubMed/Medline databases. It was concluded that there are no significant differences regarding the clinical longevity of both restoration methods.
