Abstract(s)
The constant demand for greater aesthetics and conservation of dental tissues has led to the continuous development of dental materials. Cementation is a fundamental step for the clinical success of indirect restorations. The longevity and resistance of many rehabilitation materials depends on their correct handling. The aim of this narrative review is to clarify the cementation stage by presenting the characteristics and indications of the various types of cement currently available. Cementation protocols will also be discussed, considering the rehabilitation materials used. A bibliographic search was performed in Pubmed/Medline, Academic Google and Science Direct databases. Cementation is a complex procedure that requires knowledge of the material properties and correct execution of the protocol. There is still no cementation material that can be considered ideal and universal. It is necessary to carry out clinical studies aimed at comparatively analyzing the survival of cemented restorations with each method described.
