Abstract(s)
Introduction: Many patients after treatment for breast cancer develop lymphedema in the upper limb. Physical therapy is a therapeutic resource that is use very often in lymphedema. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of different therapies in secondary lymphedema from breast cancer Methodology: A search engine to seek B-on and data base Pubmed was conducted for randomized controlled trials published between 2000 and 2015, in English and of freely accessible. Results: In this review were included 11 randomized trials involving 622 individuals, with methodological classification in 7/11 the scale of PEDro, which analyzed data on therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of lymphedema. Conclusions: Although there is a wide range of therapies, the analyzed studies show that the combined techniques are the most efficacious, but the most widely used protocol is complex decongestive therapy, including manual lymphatic drainage, exercises and skin care. Other techniques such as laser, yoga, low frequency and low intensity electrical stimulation and kinesio taping also present satisfactory results.
