Resumo: A fadiga é um estado de exaustão, de fraqueza física, é um sintoma inespecífico, comum e incapacitante em doentes com Esclerose Múltipla (EM). A EM é uma doença crónica, incapacitante e de carácter imprevisível. A sua progressão acarreta problemas físicos, psíquicos e sociais. Foram avaliados 30 pacientes com EM quanto à presença de fadiga. A Escala Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy (FAMS) e o questionário sócio-demográfico foram aplicados em todos os pacientes. Na FAMS o score é baixo indicando a presença de fadiga. Não foi observada relação da fadiga com a variável sexo, mas foi encontrada correlação entre a fadiga e a idade, tempo de doença e indivíduos que trabalham.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, debilitating, and unpredictable disease. Its progression involves physical, psychological, and social problems. We evaluated 30 MS patients with the presence of fatigue. Scale Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy (FAMS) and socio-demographic questionnaire were applied in all patients.
