Medidas objetivas da fala e voz alaríngea em indivíduos portugueses

Abstract(s)
A laringectomia total é o principal procedimento cirúrgico realizado em pacientes com cancro da laringe num estado avançado. Esta cirurgia implica a remoção total da laringe, com repercussões ao nível da fala e voz que acarretam um impacto social, profissional, emocional e físico na vida dos pacientes. Com a presente investigação pretende-se estudar, descrever e comparar os resultados respeitantes a Medidas Objetivas da Fala e Voz Alaríngea: a) Tempo Máximo de Fonação, b) número de sílabas produzidas por inspiração profunda e c) medidas acústicas do /a/, em 35 indivíduos portugueses submetidos a laringectomia total, acompanhados na valência de Terapia da Fala. Todos os participantes são oriundos do litoral-norte de Portugal e encontravam-se, no momento da avaliação, a ser acompanhados por Terapia da Fala no Instituto Português de Oncologia Francisco Gentil (Porto), no Hospital Geral de Santo António (IPO, Porto), e na Associação Portuguesa dos Limitados da Voz, sediada também no IPO. Quanto à reabilitação funcional, 15 dos participantes são falantes esofágicos e os restantes 20 recorrem à prótese fonatória (fala traqueoesofágica). Os resultados obtidos estão de acordo com a literatura internacional, confirmando uma maior eficácia na Fala e Voz traqueoesofágica em relação à esofágica.
The total laryngectomy is the major surgical procedure applied in patients with laryngeal cancer in an advanced stage. This surgery implies the total removal of the larynx, causing many problems in terms of speech and voice that carry social, professional, emotional and physical impacts in the life of patients. The objective of this research is to describe and compare the results of Medidas Objetivas da Fala e Voz Alaríngea: a) Maximum Phonation Time, b) number of syllables produced by deep inspiration and c) acoustic measures of /a/ obtained from 35 portuguese individuals subjected to total Laryngectomy, after the functional rehabilitation in valence of Speech Therapy. All participants are from the north-coast of Portugal and, at the time of the evaluation, they have been accompanied in valence of Speech Therapy of the Instituto Português de Oncologia Francisco Gentil (IPO, Porto), and in the Hospital Geral de Santo António (Porto), as well as in the Associação Portuguesa dos Limitados da Voz, also in IPO. Concerning the functional rehabilitation, 15 of the patients were esophageal speakers and the other 20 were resorted to speech prosthesis (tracheoesophageal speech). The results that were obtained after the study are in agreement with the literature, showing that the tracheoesophageal Speech and Voice is better than the esopageal.
