O presente estudo aborda os crimes de maus tratos praticados contra idosos registrados pela Defensoria Pública na cidade de São Luís/MA nos anos de 2014 a 2018. A amostra investigada consiste em todos os registros oficializados junto à base de dados da Defensoria Pública do Estado do Maranhão referente a cidade de São Luís no referido período, encaminhados via sistema de Ouvidoria. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza quantitativa, de cunho exclusivamente descritivo, cujos objetivos centram-se em identificar a quantidade e os tipos de crimes de maus tratos praticados contra idosos na cidade de São Luís/MA que foram registrados pela Defensoria Pública do Estado do Maranhão nos anos de 2014 a 2018; comparar os quantitativos de crimes de maus tratos contra idosos nos diferentes anos; avaliar se houve aumento ou diminuição da criminalidade contra idosos nesse período; apontar soluções para coibir o cometimento de crimes de maus tratos contra idosos e disponibilizar dados científicos para possibilitar a elaboração de políticas públicas pelo governo local do Maranhão.
Após as coletas de dados junto a Defensoria Pública do Estado do Maranhão e os demais atores (Governo do Estado do Maranhão, Ministério Público, Delegacia do Idoso), estes foram compilados em tabelas e gráficos; em seguida, foi procedida a análise.Verificou-se que apesar da existência de ações e políticas públicas implementadas pelos diferentes atores, a criminalidade contra idosos em São Luís/MA é presente, sendo a quantidade de registros elevados e que os principais tipos de maus tratos que vem atingindo os idosos são a negligência, a violência psicológica, o abuso financeiro, a violência física, a autonegligência e o abandono.
The present study addresses the crimes of ill-treatment practiced against elderly people registered by the Public Defender's Office in the city of São Luís / MA in the years 2014 to 2018. The investigated sample consists of all official records with the database of the Public Defender's Office of the State of Maranhão referring to the city of São Luís in the referred period, sent via the Ombudsman system. This is a quantitative research, of an exclusively descriptive nature, whose objectives focus on identifying the number and types of crimes of ill-treatment practiced against elderly people in the city of São Luís / MA that were registered by the State Public Defender's Office from Maranhão in the years 2014 to 2018; compare the numbers of crimes of ill-treatment against the elderly in different years; assess whether there was an increase or decrease in crime against the elderly during this period; point out solutions to curb the commission of crimes of ill-treatment against the elderly and provide scientific data to enable the development of public policies by the local government of Maranhão. After data collection with the Public Defender of the State of Maranhão and the other actors (Government of the State of Maranhão, Public Prosecutor's Office, Police Station for the Elderly), these were compiled in tables and graphs, then the analysis was carried out. whereas, despite the existence of public actions and policies implemented by the different actors, crime against the elderly in São Luís/MA is present, the amount of records being elevated and that the main types of abuse that has been affecting the elderly are negligence, psychological violence, financial abuse, physical violence, self-neglect and abandonment.
