Abstract(s)
Objective: To investigate the effects of physiotherapy in burned children. Methodology: This bibliographical review was conducted in three computerized databases Pubmed, Web of Science and Scopus, carried out between April and June 2023, with the purpose of identifying randomized controlled studies that evaluated the effects of physical therapy in burned children, without time limit, in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Methodological quality was assessed using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale (PEDro). Results: Initially, 256 studies were identified in the bibliographic search. After the selection process, 9 articles were included in the qualitative analysis for the review. The studies obtained a score that varied between 6 and 9 with an arithmetic mean of 7.44 out of 10 on the PEDro scale. Conclusion: Physical therapy seems to demonstrate positive effects on cardiorespiratory function, pain, lean body mass, muscle strength, range of motion, gait and quality of life. Future studies must be carried out to prove the effectiveness of physiotherapy in burned children, and it is recommended that samples and follow-up be larger, in order to obtain long-term conclusions.
