Abstract(s)
A insuficiência renal crónica é uma patologia causada por alteração estrutural renal bilateral,
progressiva e irreversível que reflete na redução da capacidade de filtração glomerular. Os
rins exercem funções essenciais na regulação do equilíbrio plasmático ácido-base e
hidroelétrolitico, na síntese da eritropoetina, e renina e na excreção de compostos
nitrogenados, e fármacos.
A redução ou perda da função renal origina complicações que devem ser consideradas no
atendimento de uma consulta dentária. Tais como hemorragias, maior suscetibilidade a
infeções e intolerância de medicamentos. Como manifestações orais, frequentes como a
xerostomia, halitose, estomatite urêmica, lesões ósseas e maior formação de tártaro. A
medicina dentaria tem um papel fundamental em todas as fases da doença renal, sendo por
isso essencial, o conhecimento por parte médico dentista protocolos de tratamento para
pacientes com esta patologia tão especial.

Such as bleeding, increased susceptibility to infections and intolerance of medications, and oral manifestations, frequent as xerostomia, halitosis, uremicstomatitis, bone lesions and greater formation of tartar. Dental medicine has a fundamental role in all stages of kidney disease, and for this reason, the knowledge of dentist treatment protocols for patients with this special pathology is essential.
