A Lombalgia crónica idiopática (LCI) afeta hoje uma grande percentagem da população mundial, e é classificada como um grave problema de saúde pública. Com o desenvolvimento de novas técnicas de tratamento para a lombalgia, o Pilates Clínico é utilizado na fisioterapia como um método que integra diversas técnicas de reabilitação numa única abordagem de tratamento baseada na evidência. Os princípios do método têm demonstrado resultados positivos na reabilitação da lombalgia crónica idiopática com a vantagem de poder ser modificado e adaptado de acordo com as necessidades de cada indivíduo. Como tal, o Pilates Clínico demonstrou eficácia como método de tratamento da lombalgia por promover alívio da dor, fortalecimento dos músculos do core e melhoria da funcionalidade nas atividades da vida diária. O objetivo deste artigo foi o de reunir alguns artigos que fundamentassem a evidência do Pilates Clínico no tratamento da LCI.
The non-specific chronic low back pain affects a large percentage of today's world population, and is classified as a serious public health problem. With the development of new treatment techniques for back pain, Pilates-inspired is used in physical therapy as a method that integrates various rehabilitation techniques in a single treatment approach based on evidence. The method’s principles have shown positive results in the rehabilitation of non-specific chronic low back pain with the advantage of being modified and adapted according to the needs of each individual. As such, the Pilates-inspired has demonstrated its effectiveness as a method of treating low back pain by promoting pain relief, strengthening of the core muscles and improving functionality in activities of daily living. The purpose of this article was to bring together some articles to substantiate the evidence of the Pilates-inspired in the treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain.
