Abstract(s)
Objective: Determine the effectiveness of radial shock wave treatment on plantar fasciitis. Methodology: Research on computerized databases on PubMed / Medline, ScienceDirect, and PEDro in order to find articles that evaluates the effectiveness of radial shock wave therapy in plantar fasciitis. Results: In this review were included five studies involving 622 patients with arithmetic mean methodology classification of 6.8 on the PEDro scale. From the studies included in this review 3 are randomized controlled trials comparing the treatment of shock waves with placebo and 2 are studies that only evaluate the shock wave therapy results in patients with plantar fasciitis. Conclusion: Evidence consulted in this systematic review suggests that radial shock wave therapy is an important addition to conventional therapy for plantar fasciitis, able to boost the therapy effects in reducing pain and increasing function of both the short and long term.
