Abstract(s)
O trabalho apresentado pretende fazer uma comparação entre as classificações das
doenças periodontais existentes ao longo dos tempos.
Esta classificação tem evoluído e sofrido alterações desde 1989 até aos dias de hoje, sendo
a classificação de 1999 a ultima atualização existente até ao ano de 2018.
Nesta monografia serão então comparadas as ultimas atualizações existentes na
especialidade: nos anos de1999 e 2018.
Este trabalho tem como objetivo esclarecer as alterações que a classificação sofreu na
mais recente análise da comunidade científica e forcar-se-á apenas na periodontite
induzida por placa bacteriana.
Desde Armitage, em 1999, que não houveram alterações significativas nas classificações
dos problemas periodontais, o que ao longo do tempo levou a alguma incoerência na
classificação e controvérsia por parte da comunidade científica.
Sendo assim, a American Association of Periodontology e a European Federation of
Periodontology, iniciaram um planeamento, em conjunto com apoios financeiros para a
obtenção de uma nova classificação.
A nova classificação que foi adotada uniu as classificações de periodontite agressiva e
periodontite crónica numa única classificação: periodontite. No entanto, esta nova
classificação encontra-se subdividida em estágios e graus.
Os estágios estão relacionados com a severidade da doença e com a complexidade dos
métodos de tratamento.
Os graus são utilizados para uma informação acrescida de biodiversidade do indivíduo,
como a história clínica, a progressão da periodontite como avaliação do risco de evolução
da periodontite, análise de resultados de tratamento e também a forma como a avaliação
da periodontite afeta a saúde geral do paciente.
The present work intends to make a comparison between the classifications of the periodontal diseases existing throughout the time. This classification has evolved and undergone changes from 1989 to the present day, being the classification of 1999 the last update until the year 2018. In this monograph will be compared the latest updates in the specialty: 1999 and 2018. This work aims to clarify the changes that the classification has undergone in the most recent analysis of the scientific community and will only be based on periodontitis induced by bacterial plaque. Since Armitage in 1999, there were no significant changes in the classifications of periodontal problems, which over time led to some inconsistency in classification and controversy by the scientific community. Thus, the American Association of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology began planning and conducting together with financial support to obtain a new classification. The new classification that was adopted united the classifications of aggressive periodontitis and chronic periodontitis in a single classification: periodontitis. However, this new classification is subdivided into stages and degrees.The stages are related to the disease severity and the complexity of the treatment methods. The degrees are used for increased information on the individual's biodiversity, such as clinical history, progression of periodontitis as an evaluation of the risk of progression of periodontitis, analysis of treatment results and also the evaluation of how periodontitis affects the general health of the patient.
