A violência presente no Equador está a aumentar, resultando na existência de casos diários, o que gera medo e mal-estar na população. Esses episódios de violência decorrem principalmente do que é vivenciado nos estabelecimentos penitenciários, que nos últimos anos vem perdendo seu valor como centro de tratamento ou reinserção social de pessoas privadas de liberdade. Tendo em conta estes acontecimentos, o presente projeto de graduação intitulado as "Perceções dos Agentes Penitenciários sobre as Condições de Vida nas Prisões do Equador" é visto como um tema interessante e considera-se importante investigar a origem do conflito interno neste tipo de estabelecimento, uma vez que é necessário estabelecer uma revisão teórica onde se encontram dados e informações sobre a infraestrutura, o funcionamento, se existe ou não o devido respeito pelos direitos humanos e os problemas presentes neste sistema que, em muitos casos, devem ser modificados para o melhorar. Ao mesmo tempo, estabelece-se uma proposta de intervenção com a qual se pretende obter a colaboração dos agentes penitenciários que atualmente trabalham nestas instituições, constituindo a amostra deste estudo, a fim de obter a informação necessária para alcançar os objectivos descritos neste projeto. Com as informações obtidas, pretende-se que no futuro seja possível a criação de novos planos de intervenção adaptados às necessidades destas instituições que ajude a reduzir os índices de criminalidade e violência no país.
The violence present in Ecuador is increasing, resulting in the existence of daily cases, which generates fear and uneasiness in the population. These episodes of violence arise mainly from what is experienced in prison establishments, which in recent years has been losing its value as a center for the treatment or social reintegration of people deprived of their freedom. Taking these events into account, the present graduation project entitled “Perceptions of Penitentiary Agents about Living Conditions in Prisons in Ecuador” is seen as an interesting subject and it is considered important to investigate the origin of the internal conflict in this type of establishment, since it is necessary to establish a theoretical review where data and information on the infrastructure, functioning, whether or not there is due respect for human rights and the problems present in this system which, in many cases, should be modified in order to improve it. At the same time, an intervention proposal is established with which it is sought to obtain the collaboration of the penitentiary agents who currently work in these institutions, being the sample of this study, in order to obtain the necessary information to achieve the objectives described in this project. With the information obtained, it is intended that in the future it will be possible to create new intervention plans adapted to the needs of these institutions that will help reduce crime and violence rates in the country.
