Este Projeto de Graduação propõe-se a fazer uma reflexão crítica e fundada acerca da situação atual do espaço político do centro-direita português. Afirmando que este espaço político atravessa o pico de uma crise, correndo sérios riscos de se tornar irrelevante na cena política nacional num futuro breve, o trabalho procura, através de um exercício histórico, comprovar que esta crise não é fruto da atualidade, nem de um passado mais recente, mas sim de um passado que remonta ao momento fundacional deste espaço político em Portugal. Para comprovar este facto, procura-se explorar os dois grandes erros políticos fundacionais do centro-direita português, que foram as raízes de uma crise existencial histórica, que têm acompanhado este espaço político desde sempre, e que nunca lhe permitiram obter a legitimidade e a superioridade que outros quadrantes políticos possuem. O trabalho procura comprovar que a fraqueza na posição política, que não deixa o centro-direita consolidar e afirmar um projeto coerente e alternativo a uma lógica política instalada, e a divisão interna deste espaço político que fragmenta aquele que poderia ser um polo político plural e hegemónico, são os dois grandes erros estruturais em que assenta a crise que atravessa este espaço político.
This undergraduate project aims to provide a critical and well-founded analysis of the current state of the centre-right political sphere in Portugal. Asserting that this political space is at the height of an crisis, running a serious risk of becoming irrelevant on the national political scene in the near future, this work seeks, through a historical analysis, to demonstrate that this crisis is not the result of current events, nor of the recent past, but rather of a past that dates back to the very founding of this political space in Portugal. To demonstrate this, the study seeks to explore the two major foundational political errors of the Portuguese centre-right, which were the roots of a historic existential crisis that has accompanied this political space from the outset, and which have never allowed it to attain the legitimacy and superiority enjoyed by other political quarters. This study seeks to demonstrate that the weakness of the centre-right’s political position—which prevents it from consolidating and establishing a coherent alternative to the prevailing political paradigm—and the internal divisions within this political sphere, which fragment what could otherwise be a pluralistic and hegemonic political force, are the two major structural flaws underpinning the crisis currently afflicting this political sphere.
