| dc.description.abstract | O papel do farmacêutico comunitário, com o avançar dos anos tem vindo a adotar outro significado. Deixando de ser unicamente o intermediário entre o medicamento e o utente e passando a ter um papel ativo nos cuidados de saúde primários e acompanhamento nas terapias medicamentosas dando especial atenção aos doentes polimedicamentados, promovendo o uso correto e racional dos medicamentos, visando a satisfação das necessidades destes doentes. Foi evidente a importância do farmacêutico comunitário no final de 2019, quando nos deparamos com a pandemia causada pelo vírus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), uma vez que as farmácias comunitárias foram dos estabelecimentos que se mantiveram sempre abertos, disponíveis e com fácil acesso à população, sendo muitas vezes o primeiro ponto de contacto para aconselhamento e esclarecimento de sintomatologias diversas e até mesmo de questões relativamente à pandemia que se enfrentava. Desta forma, os farmacêuticos comunitários desempenharam um papel vital de intercomunicador das normas estabelecidas pelas entidades responsáveis como a Organização Mundial de Saúde, a Direção Geral de Saúde, a Ordem dos Farmacêuticos, entre outras e foram um grande apoio perante a fragilidade do Sistema Nacional de Saúde. Estes foram uma ferramenta essencial para o país nesta batalha, fazendo promoção às medidas de prevenção como o distanciamento social, o uso de máscara, a desinfeção das mãos, e no auxílio da população no esclarecimento de dúvidas, bem como nos procedimentos a ter em casos suspeitos da COVID-19. Deste modo, estes profissionais devem ser capacitados como agir perante uma suspeita de infeção por SARS-CoV-2 e auxiliar no procedimento a seguir, começando por avisar as entidades responsáveis através da linha de apoio da Saúde24, bem como na desmitificação da Infodemia que se devolveu associada à pandemia, onde se inclui, por exemplo, a incerteza da eficácia da vacina contra a COVID-19. | dc.description.abstract | Over the years, the role of the pharmaceutical community has been changing and taking a different meaning. No longer being just the intermediary between the drug and the user and starting to play an active role in primary health care and monitoring drug therapies, paying special attention to polypharmacy patients, promoting the correct and rational use of medicines, aiming at satisfying the needs of these patients.The importance of the pharmacists community was evident in the end of 2019 when we started facing the pandemic caused by SRAS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), since the pharmacies were the establishments that always stayed open, available and with easy access to the population. Often being the first point of contact for advice and clarification of certain symptoms and also general questions regarding the pandemic that we were facing.This way, the pharmacists played an essential role explaining and communicating the rules established by the responsible entities like the World Health Organization, and specifically in Portugal, Direção Geral de Saúde and Ordem dos Farmacêuticos, amongst others. They were a big support to the National health system, since it was fragile at the time.These rules were an essencial tool for this battle the country was crossing, promoting preventive measures such as social distancing, the correct use of masks, hand disinfection and also helping the population clarifying possible doubts, and clarifying the correct procedure to be followed in suspect of COVID-19 cases.In this way, these professionals must be trained on how to act in the event of a suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection and assist in the procedure to be followed, starting with notifying the responsible entities through the helpline (Saúde24), as well as in demystifying the infodemic that was developed, which includes, for example, the uncertainty of the effectiveness of the vaccine against COVID- 19. The goal of this study is based on a literature review about the importance of the role that the pharmacists took in their activity and with the population while facing the COVID-19 pandemic. The main goal of this study consists in a bibliographic review about the role of the pharmacists community in it's activity facing the COVID-19 pandemic, characterizing the vírus as well as the disease. | pt_PT |
