Introdução: A cervicalgia crónica inespecífica é uma condição comum que afeta significativamente a qualidade de vida dos pacientes. Objetivo: Avaliar os efeitos de um programa de exercícios baseado no Método de Pilates, associado ao tratamento fisioterapêutico, em pessoas com dor cervical crónica inespecífica. Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo quasi-experimental com 26 participantes divididos por conveniência de acordo com prescrição médica em grupo experimental (tratamento fisioterapêutico e Pilates) e grupo controlo (tratamento fisioterapêutico apenas). Os dois grupos realizaram 15 sessões de tratamento. Resultados: apesar de uma redução significativa da dor no grupo experimental (p=0.03), não foram observadas diferenças entre os grupos quanto à dor, incapacidade funcional e qualidade de vida após a intervenção. Conclusão: a associação do Método Pilates ao tratamento de fisioterapia não promoveu benefícios adicionais.
Background: Chronic nonspecific neck pain is a common condition that significantly affects patients' quality of life. Aim: To evaluate the effects of an exercise program based on the Pilates Method, associated with physiotherapy treatment, in people with chronic nonspecific neck pain.
