Abstract(s)
Background: The cervicogenic headache (CGH) is a disabling condition of high prevalence that has negative health consequences in terms of occupational, economic and social factors. Objective: Clarify and update the role of the spinal manipulation therapy in adult with CGH. Methods: A computerized search was conducted in Pubmed, Web of Science, Cochrane and PEDro databases in June 2023, with the words cervicogenic, headache, manipulative, manipulation, cervical, spinal, pain, directed to randomized controlled trials. Results: The final sample consists of 5 articles, a total of 628 adults. Improvements were observed in pain intensity, frequency, duration, disability related to CGH with manipulative techniques and with effects maintained over time. Conclusion: The literature review provides solid evidence of the importance for the physiotherapist to choose a treatment approach based on a spinal manipulative therapy for patients with CGH.
