O papel dos movimentos ortodônticos nos defeitos ósseos periodontais

Abstract(s)
A doença periodontal é uma doença infeciosa multifatorial, que destrói o periodonto de suporte. Consequentemente, há perda de tecido de inserção, de osso alveolar e de cimento, com formação de bolsas periodontais. Clinicamente, estes pacientes apresentam perda óssea alveolar vertical e horizontal. Com a adequada coordenação ortodontia-periodontia, é possível restabelecer uma dentição saudável e funcional. O tratamento ortodôntico tem como objetivo reconstruir a oclusão, com remodelação do osso alveolar e alteração da sua morfologia. Assim, pretende-se estudar como é feito o planeamento do tratamento, quais os movimentos dentários ortodônticos a executar, bem como a eventual associação ao tratamento ortodôntico de regeneração periodontal.
A revisão bibliográfica foi realizada no motor de busca PubMed, B-on, Medline e Google Académico, com recurso a palavras-chave tais como: “Ortodontia”, “Periodontia”,“Regeneração Periodontal” e “Defeitos Infraósseos”, tendo por base artigos em língua portuguesa e inglesa, publicados entre 2008 e 2018.
Periodontal disease is a multifactorial infectious disease that destroys the support periodontium. Therefore, there is loss of attachment tissue, alveolar bone and cementum, with formation of periodontal pockets. Clinically these patients have vertical and horizontal alveolar bone loss. With a proper coordination orthodontic-periodontics it is possible to restore a healthy and functional dentition. The orthodontic treatment aims to reconstruct the occlusion, with remodeling of the alveolar bone and alteration of its morphology. Thus, it is intended to study how treatment planning is done, which orthodontic dental movements to perform, as well as the possible association with orthodontic treatment of periodontal regeneration. The literature review was conducted in the search engine PubMed, B-on, Medline and Google Scholar using key words like “Orthodintics”, “Periodontics”, “Periodontal Regeneration” and “Infrabony Defects”, based on articles in portuguese and in english, between 2008 and 2018.
