Salivary gland cancer represents a group of rare tumors, accounting for less than 5% of head and neck cancers, but standing out due to significant clinical, histological, and molecular heterogeneity. This integrative review aims to deepen the understanding of the pathophysiology and the etiological and metabolic mechanisms associated with salivary gland cancer, as well as to analyze the main therapeutic options currently available. To this end, an integrative review of the scientific literature was conducted, based on the critical analysis of 15 articles selected for their methodological relevance and up-to-date content, using scientific databases such as PubMed and ScienceDirect. The identification and exclusion of results were carried out according to pre-established inclusion and exclusion criteria. This work highlights the need for a multidisciplinary and personalized approach that takes into account the wide biological diversity of salivary gland cancers. It also emphasizes the promising prospects brought by recent advances in molecular biology, both for early diagnosis and for the optimization of therapeutic strategies.
