Abstract(s)
In the dental office routine, we often encounter lower molars with mesial angulation as result of early loss of deciduous and permanent teeth or due to mandibular second pre molars agenesis, which leads to tilting of the adjacent teeth towards the edentulous spaces affecting occlusal stability. When uprighting molars orthodontically one should consider: severity of dental inclination, periodontal conditions and biomechanical factors. After a literature review the author presents a diversity of appliances for uprighting tipped lower molars, described in scientific papers, indicating the biomechanical principles and the unwanted and underlying side effects.
