A má oclusão afeta cerca de 75% a 80% da população. Várias pesquisas demonstram que para
além dos distúrbios na cavidade oral, parece existir uma relação direta entre a má oclusão e
equilíbrio e a postura do indivíduo. O objetivo deste trabalho é efetuar uma revisão da
literatura, de modo a identificar uma possível relação entre a oclusão e a postura.
A presente revisão bibliográfica incluiu os estudos publicados entre 1971 e 2016 em
português, inglês e francês abordando a possível interação entre a oclusão e a postura,
tentando estabelecer qual a abordagem multidisciplinar a considerar e qual o papel do Médico
Dentista neste processo.
ABSTRACT Defective occlusion affects 75 to 80% of the population. The problems caused include in addition to create disorders in the oral cavity, a consequent number of researches have shown that an abnormal occlusion could impact stability and posture. The main objective of the thesis is to review the literature in order to identify a possible relationship between occlusion and posture. The present literature review included the studies published between 1971 and 2016 in Portuguese, English and French addressing the possible interaction between occlusion and posture, trying to establish which multidisciplinary approach to consider and what the role of the Dentist in this process.
