A evolução da engenharia dos materiais e design dos dispositivos tem impactado positivamente o tratamento endodôntico mecanizado, isto porque a melhoria dos materiais e técnicas de fabrico, confere maior segurança e confiabilidade nos tratamentos, bem como, diminui gradativamente as dificuldades na sua execução e reduz também, o risco de acidentes. Estas mudanças são notórias e significativas no decorrer dos anos, com o lançamento de cada sistema mecanizado ProTaper proporcionando maior segurança e menor risco de na taxa de sucesso dos tratamentos endodônticos.
Este trabalho constitui uma revisão narrativa da literatura cujo objetivo é apresentar e descrever os sistemas ProTaper de instrumentação em endodontia, e como este evoluiu com o decorrer dos anos, comparando os sistemas mecanizados Protaper Universal, Next, Gold e Ultimate.
The evolution of materials engineering and device design has had a positive impact on mechanized endodontic treatment, because the improvement of materials and manufacturing techniques, provides greater safety and reliability in treatments, as well as gradually reduces the difficulties in its execution and also reduces, the risk of accidents. These changes are notable and significant over the years, with the launch of each ProTaper mechanized system providing greater safety and lower fracture risk increasing the success rate of endodontic treatments. This work constitutes a narrative review of the literature whose objective is to present and describe the ProTaper instrumentation systems in endodontics, and how it has evolved over the years, comparing the mechanized systems Protaper Universal, Next, Gold, and Ultimate.
