Abstract(s)
Objective: Check the effectiveness of physiotherapy techniques in the treatment of gonarthrosis sequels. Methods: A survey was conducted in Pubmed and Science Direct databases to identify studies that presented the effectiveness of physiotherapy techniques in the rehabilitation of gonarthrosis, published between 2010 and 2015. Results: It was included six studies that met all the exclusion criteria, 4 randomized clinical trials, 1 randomized trial and 1 randomized controlled trial, totaling 781 participants with gonarthrosis, with a minimum age of 35 years. 1 study focused on the Swedish massage, 1 on the Behavioral Graded Activity (BGA) and the Dutch physical therapy guideline, 1 on the neuromuscular training, 1 on therapeutic exercise with or without balance and agility training, 1 on an strengthening exercises program focused on the functionality, with or without joint stabilization exercises and 1 makes a comparison between manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and conventional treatment of gonarthrosis. Conclusion: There is strong evidence of the effectiveness and importance of physiotherapy in the treatment of gonarthrosis, in particular interventions that include therapeutic exercise and manual therapy. It is needed more research to verify the longevity of the effects of these modalities.
