Abstract(s)
Bon, Elsevier, Science Direct.
The oral oncology is a growing concern in the context of public health, with an impact in the cancer patient's quality of life and its family. The survival has been fixed at 50% over the past 3 decades. This paper intends to relate the presence of an inflammatory pathology of the oral cavity as a risk factor and an indicator of bad prognosis in oral oncology and suggest a research plan in this area. A proofreading was performed about the theme (2015-2020), in the databases PubMed, Bon, Elsevier, and Science Direct. 70 bibliographic references were used. Investigation questions were formulated and a research plan is proposed so as to develop strategies that might contribute to the untimely diagnosis of the oral cancer in Dentistry's appointment. A survey was put together to include in the research plan. The Oral oncology's risk factors are closely interrelated - the ability of the majority to mostly contribute to inflammation of extrinsic origin in the tumor microenvironment is emphasised. Chronic inflammatory pathology and the oral cavity microbiome are relevant in oral oncology and can be used as biomarkers, flagging patients at higher risk. The Dentist can matter in following cancer patients and promoting health and oral cancer literacy with their employees, peers and patients - and literacy is a powerful weapon in preventing oral cancer.
