Violência sexual: uma análise de comentários online a partir da notícia de uma jovem portuguesa violada no Porto (Portugal)

dc.description.abstractEm 2023, a APAV registou um aumento de 30% nos casos de violência sexual contra crianças e jovens, tendo sido contabilizadas um total de 1760 denúncias. Este aumento pode refletir uma maior conscientização do problema ou, pelo contrário, um crescimento da incidência de casos. Salienta-se, por isso, a importância de estudar a violência sexual no seu contexto legal e jurídico (que leis aplicar para punir o agressor ou para salvaguardar a vítima), mas também examinar os discursos socialmente construídos, de forma a identificar crenças culturais que se manifestam em relação a este tipo específico de crime. Considerando que a internet se apresenta hoje como uma das principais plataformas de produção, divulgação e discussão de informação, e à luz das novas potencialidades que as redes sociais apresentam (anonimato, maior liberdade de discurso), o presente estudo procura analisar os discursos reverberados na secção de comentários do Jornal “Público” e na sua respetiva página do Facebook, a propósito de uma notícia de uma jovem portuguesa violada no grande Porto – Portugal. O tratamento e interpretação dos dados recolhidos, apoiados na análise temática, permitiu identificar cinco temas: Justiça e política; Sentimento do utilizador; Caracterização do violador; Caracterização da vítima e crítica à notícia. No geral, os comentários analisados sugerem a indignação do utilizador face ao conteúdo da notícia e a alusão à necessidade de medidas mais justas e punitivas.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractIn 2023, APAV recorded a 30% increase in cases of sexual violence against children and young people, with a total of 1,760 reports. This increase may reflect a greater awareness of the problem or, on the contrary, an increase in the incidence of cases. It is therefore important to study sexual violence in its legal and juridical context (which laws to apply to punish the aggressor or safeguard the victim), but also to examine socially constructed discourses in order to identify cultural beliefs that manifest themselves in relation to this specific type of crime. Considering that the internet is now one of the main platforms for producing, disseminating and discussing information, and in light of the new potential that social networks present (anonymity, greater freedom of speech), this study seeks to analyze the discourses reverberating in the comments section of the newspaper “Público” and on its Facebook page, regarding a news story about a young Portuguese woman who was raped in the greater Porto area - Portugal. The treatment and interpretation of the data collected, based on thematic analysis, allowed us to identify five themes: Justice and politics; User sentiment; Characterization of the rapist; Characterization of the victim and Criticism of the news. In general, the comments analyzed suggest the user's indignation at the content of the news item and the need for fairer and more punitive measures.pt_PT
