Abstract(s)
O espaço público, enquanto sistema capaz de redefinir a paisagem urbana através da sua qualificação, é o objeto primordial de investigação da presente dissertação. A leitura em unidade dos concelhos de Santo Tirso, Valongo e Gondomar constitui a base do estudo de um sistema de espaços coletivos intermunicipal, capaz de articular diferentes escalas territoriais. Através de uma abordagem teórica e empírica, sublinha-se a relevância de uma perspetiva coletiva, em detrimento dos limites administrativos, que pode proporcionar um novo nível de coesão metropolitana. A contextualização espacial no território de urbanização difusa emerge como chave de leitura, evidenciando o papel fundamental que as estruturas verdes e azuis desempenham na estruturação do território. Assim, o espaço público é explorado enquanto parte integrante (e integradora) dessas estruturas, com potencial para redefinir o caráter estético e identitário do urbano contemporâneo.
Public space, as a system capable of redefining the urban landscape through its qualification, is the primary object of investigation in the present dissertation. The combined analysis of the municipalities of Santo Tirso, Valongo, and Gondomar forms the basis for studying a system of inter-municipal collective spaces, capable of articulating different territorial scales. Through both a theoretical and empirical approach, the importance of a collective perspective is emphasized, rather than being confined to administrative boundaries, which could offer a new level of metropolitan cohesion. The spatial contextualization within the territory of diffuse urbanization serves as a key lens, highlighting the fundamental role that green and blue structures play in structuring the territory. Public space is therefore explored as an integral (and integrative) part of these structures, with the potential to redefine the aesthetic and identity aspects of the contemporary urban environment.
