| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: A síndrome de Guillain-Barré (SGB) é uma polineuropatia desmielinizante aguda, inflamatória e pós-infeciosa que acomete desde as raízes nervosas a nervos periféricos. Devido a uma das revisões anteriores não ser atual, ambas apresentarem limitações de pesquisa e ao influxo de nova evidência considera-se necessário efetuar a presente revisão. Objetivo: analisar os efeitos das intervenções de Fisioterapia na independência funcional, qualidade de vida, atividade/força muscular e dor em pacientes com SGB Metodologia: Foi efetuada uma pesquisa bibliográfica nas bases de dados PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PEDro & Scopus que inclui artigos randomizados controlados que investiguem modalidades da fisioterapia em crianças, adolescentes, adultos e idosos com SGB diagnosticado, nos idiomas português, francês, espanhol e inglês & definição de que os participantes eram pacientes com síndrome de Guillain-Barré ou subtipos da mesma diagnosticados. Resultados: Foram encontrados 1745 registos, dos quais 5 foram incluídos na presente revisão. A qualidade metodológica média destes foi de 5.6 pontos. Conclusão: Foi possível concluir que o exercício físico, nomeadamente supervisionado individualizado e de alta intensidade aparenta ter efeitos benéficos em pacientes com SGB tanto a nível de independência funcional, como da qualidade de vida e força muscular. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute, inflammatory and post-infectious demyelinating polyneuropathy that affects nerve roots and peripheral nerves. Due to one of the previous reviews not being current, both having research limitations and the influx of new evidence it was deemed necessary to carry out the present review. Objective: to analyze the effects of Physical Therapy interventions on functional independence, quality of life, muscle activity/strength and pain in patients with GBS Methodology: A bibliographic search was carried out in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PEDro & Scopus databases, including approved randomized controlled trials that investigate physiotherapy modalities in children, adolescents, adults and elderly people with GBS, in portuguese, french, spanish and english & definition that participants were patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome or subtypes of the same syndrome. Results: 1745 records were found, of which 5 were included in this review. The average methodological quality of these was 5.6 points. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude that physical exercise, namely individualized and high-intensity supervised exercise, appears to have beneficial effects in patients with GBS, both in terms of functional independence, quality of life and muscle strength. | pt_PT |
