Introdução : As medicinas alternativas e homeopáticas, são os métodos terapêuticos naturais para a
obtenção de saúde. Entre estes métodos terapêuticos, abordamos neste trabalho uma única, a
aromaterapia. Ela fornece um tratamento preventivo, mas também curativo e pode complementar ou
mesmo substituir algumas terapias convencionais.

Objectivo : Analisar através de revisão bibliográfica, vamos ver as propriedades terapêuticas dos
óleos essenciais existentes nos tratamento do âmbito da Medicina Dentaria, nomeadamente no
retratamento endodôntico não cirúrgico, as suas indicações, vantagens e precauções a ter.

Materiais e Métodos : Revisão bibliográfica tendo por base as palavras-chave delineadas e critérios
de inclusão e exclusão específicos, com o objectivo de angariar e referir o máximo de informação
acerca desta grande controvérsia da Medicina Dentária.

Resultados e Conclusões : A aromaterapia utiliza óleos essenciais e tem a vantagem de contribuir
para a saúde do paciente com efeitos colaterais limitados.
No entanto, o uso de óleos essenciais requer estudo e treino rigoroso. permitindo uma melhor
compreensão e experiência para que assim o médico saiba o que prescrever e como prescrever.
Quanto ao dentista, os livros existentes abordam a medicina geral, mas poucos têm uma abordagem
dental.
Sendo que, a aromaterapia não pode por si só resolver todas as situações patológicas, mas é um
aliado inegável na busca de bem-estar e que deve ser desenvolvido.
Introduction : Alternative medicines are more or less natural therapeutic methods for obtaining health. Among these drugs, we address in this work only aromatherapy. It provides preventive, but also curative, treatment can complement or even replace conventional therapies. ! Objective : To demonstrate, in a very succinct way, the therapeutic properties of essential oils in non-surgical endodontic treatment and retreatment, namely its indications, advantages and precautions. ! Materials and Methods : Bibliographic review based on outlined keywords and specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, with the objective of raising and refer as many information about this huge controversy as possible. ! Results and Conclusions : Aromatherapy uses essential oils, it has the advantage of contributing to the patient's health with limited side effects. However, the use of essential oils requires rigorous training allowing the doctor to know what he prescribed and how to prescribe. As for the dentist, existing books deal with general medicine, but few have a dental approach. However, aromatherapy can not by itself solve all pathological situations, but it is an undoubted ally in the pursuit of well-being and must be developed.
