Introduction: Currently, osteo-integrated implants undoubtedly represent a predictable alternative in oral rehabilitation procedures. In this effort to increase the primary stability of the inserted implants, we will have to take into account several factors: bone quality, in terms of initial bone-implant contact, macro and micro geometry of the implant, as well as how to prepare the bone. We will take into account and develop the relationship between primary stability and insertion torque, as well as the relationship between torque and bone response. Objective: This thesis aims to review the literature on "primary stability" and "insertion torque". Methodology: The bibliographic search was carried out through the search engines: PubMed / Medline, Science Direct, Google, on-line library of Universidade Fernando Pessoa. Conclusion: Insertion torque conditions the success of the implant, so it is important that an implant is carefully implanted, with torque values adapted to each specific clinical situation.
