| dc.description.abstract | As disfunções temporomandibulares são um conjunto de condições clínicas, que afetam a articulação temporomandibular, os músculos da mastigação e as estruturas associadas. Como a sua etiologia é multifatorial, são propostas diversas opções terapêuticas não invasivas, sendo a acupuntura uma medida terapêutica a ter em consideração. Com este trabalho pretendeu realizar-se uma revisão narrativa da literatura, de forma a avaliar a eficácia da acupuntura no alívio da dor e limitação dos movimentos associados às disfunções temporomandibulares de origem muscular em comparação com outras técnicas terapêuticas. A acupuntura tem-se mostrado eficaz no controlo de dores orofaciais, especialmente, nas de origem muscular. É uma técnica que promove o alívio e/ou redução da dor, leva à melhoria da dinâmica mandibular e funções orais, bem como, diminui a hiperatividade dos músculos da mastigação. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Temporomandibular disorders are a set of clinical conditions that affect the temporomandibular joint, the masticatory muscles and the associated structures. As its etiology is multifactorial, several non-invasive therapeutic options are proposed, being acupuncture a therapeutic measure to be taken into account. This work aimed to perform a narrative review of the literature in order to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture in pain relief and movement limitations associated with muscular temporomandibular disorders compared with other therapeutic measures. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective in controlling orofacial pain, especially of muscular origin. It is a technique that promotes relief and/or reduction of pain, improvement of mandibular dynamics and oral functions and, it also reduce the hyperactivity of the masticatory muscles. | pt_PT |
