O sistema CAD-CAM é uma tecnologia aplicável na reabilitação/restauração direta e
indireta, particularmente no âmbito de registos/impressões digitais de preparações
cavitárias/dentárias totais e parciais, comparável com técnicas convencionais. Esta
revisão de literatura teve como propósitos: definir, contextualizar descrever alguns
sistemas de digitalização chairside e laboratório comercialmente disponíveis; efetuar
uma análise sistemática qualitativa da evidência clínica e in vitro dos modos de
digitalização direto/indireto; comparar vantagens/limitações na aplicabilidade clínica
para utentes e profissionais, dos sistemas de digitalização de preparações dentárias. A
metodologia de pesquisa incluiu todos os artigos em Português ou Inglês (1996-2018)
do tipo meta-análise, ensaios In Vitro, ensaios clínicos (In Vivo). As principais
vantagens da digitalização direta são o maior conforto para paciente, a rapidez e
facilidade na aprendizagem técnica. A posição dos dentes, a presença de saliva e sangue
pode limitar a digitalização e o custo do equipamento pode condicionar o acesso ao uso
desta tecnologia.
CAD-CAM system is a technology applicable in direct and indirect rehabilitation/restoration, particularly in regarding digital data/ impressions of total and partial cavity/dental preparations, comparable with conventional techniques. This literature review aimed to: define, contextualize, describe some commercially available chairside scanning systems; carry out a qualitative systematic analysis of clinical and in vitro evidence of direct/indirect scanning modes; compare advantages/limitations of dental scanning systems in clinical practice, for patients and professionals. The research methodology included all articles in Portuguese or English (1996-2018) language and meta-analysis, In Vitro trials, clinical trials (In Vivo) publications. The main advantages of direct scanning are the greater patient comfort, speed and ease in technical learning. The position of the teeth, the presence of saliva and blood can limit the scanning and the cost of the equipment can condition the access to this technology.
