dc.description.abstractGuided bone regeneration is a well-established technique used for augmentation of deficient alveolar ridges, by excluding certain cell types and promoting the bone reconstruction after a bone loss, thanks to the use or certain types of membrane called barrier membrane. This bone loss is generally the consequence of a trauma which can result from several factors.The treatment of this type of resorption is a real challenge in orthopedic and craniomaxillofacial surgery. Indeed, it increases and augments alveolar bone volume in areas designated for future implant placement, and consequently augment the rate of success in implant surgery. The purpose of this study is to present and explain the mechanism of guided bone regeneration by the use of barrier membrane in the treatment of bone loss, and also to present and to compare the different types of barrier membrane that can be used.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractA regeneração óssea guiada é uma técnica bem estabelecida usada para aumento de rebordos alveolares deficientes, excluindo certos tipos de células e promovendo a reconstrução de osso depois deste se ter perdido. Neste procedimentos podem ser utilizadas, membranas oclusivas. A perda de osso geralmente é a consequência de um trauma que pode ser o resultado de vários fatores. O tratamento deste tipo de reabsorção é um real desafio nos campos ortopédico e cirurgia de craniomaxilofacial. Realmente, este tratamento aumenta volume do osso alveolar em áreas designadas para colocação de implante futura e por conseguinte aumenta a taxa de sucesso em cirurgia de implante. O objectivo deste estudo é apresentar e explicar o mecanismo de regeneração óssea guiada pelo uso de membrana oclusiva no tratamento de perda óssea, e também apresentar e comparar os diferentes tipos de membrana oclusiva que pode ser usada.pt_PT
