Abstract(s)

O presente trabalho tem como objectivo central apresentar uma investigação, em dois contextos culturais distintos – português e romeno –, sobre o significado atribuído por adolescentes à dimensão cultural de individualismo-colectivismo (IND/COL), a fim de lançar ulteriormente pistas para o estudo da relação entre esta dimensão cultural e uma dimensão de índole mais psicológica, isto é, as concepções pessoais de inteligência (CPI) de adolescentes dos referidos contextos culturais. Assim, com o objectivo de esclarecer o âmbito conceptual da dimensão de IND/COL entre adolescentes, realizámos um conjunto de entrevistas individuais, semi-directivas, com 39 estudantes (20 portugueses e 19 romenos) do 10º e 12º anos. Deste modo, procurou-se explorar o significado atribuído pelos participantes ao IND/COL em três domínios de acção e interacção distintos: a família, o grupo de pares e a escola; este último domínio foi ainda investigado quanto à perspectiva dos participantes sobre a inteligência e o sucesso escolar. The central aim of the present study was to investigate in two distinct cultural contexts – Portuguese and Romanian – the significance adolescents attribute to the cultural dimension of individualism-collectivism (IND/COL), in order to subsequently launch some paths for the study of the relation between this cultural dimension and a more psychological one, namely, personal conceptions of intelligence (PCI) of adolescents in the above mentioned cultural contexts. Thus, in order to clarify the conceptual framework of the IND/COL dimension among adolescents, we conducted a series of individual, semi-structured interviews, with 39 pupils (20 Portuguese and 19 Romanian), 10th and 12th graders. We explored the significance attributed by participants to IND/COL in three distinct domains of action and interaction: family, peer group and school, this last domain was also investigated as to the meaning participants attach to intelligence and school success.
