A epicondilite lateral (EL) é uma das principais causas de dor crónica no cotovelo e nem sempre responde ao tratamento conservador.
Objetivo: comparar a eficácia das terapias a laser e ondas de choque no alívio da dor ou na melhoria da funcionalidade em pacientes com epicondilite lateral.
Metodologia: Pesquisa computorizada nas bases de dados Pubmed, PEDro e Google Scholar com a combinação “lateral epicondylitis”, “tennis elbow”, “tendonitis”, “lateral epicondylopathy”, “elbow tendonitis”, “lateral epicondylalgia”, “laser therapy” e “shock waves” e pain OR functionality, para identificar estudos randomizados que comparassem a eficácia das duas terapias no tratamento da EL.
Resultados: Foram incluídos 4 estudos, com um valor médio na escala de PEDro de 5,5 ± 0,58.
Conclusão: Ambas as terapias mostram eficácia no alívio da dor ou na funcionalidade do cotovelo, em pacientes com epicondilite lateral crónica.
