Produz-se uma reflexão sobre um objecto actualmente no centro dos chamados “problemas sociais”: a exclusão social. Não se defende uma tese, nem se comunicam resultados de uma investigação – propõem-se elementos problematizadores, falando-se a partir da posição de etnógrafo urbano para participar reflexivamente no discurso sobre os “excluídos”, os “marginalizados”, os “relegados”, sobre as “periferias sociais”.
This paper presents a reflection on the object presently at the centre of the so called “social problems”: social exclusion. The aim is not to present a thesis on this subject nor to communicate research results; what is presented are elements that enable an insightful discussion of these issues. The speech and standing is that of an urban ethnographer wishing to promote the participation of wider audiences in a reflection on the discourses on the “excluded”, the “marginalised”, the “underclass” or on the social fringes.
