Prevalência de lesões músculo-esqueléticas nos estudantes do 4º e 5º ano de medicina dentária

Abstract(s)
O objetivo desta tese é alertar para a problemática das lesões músculo-esqueléticas de origem ocupacional nos estudantes da Universidade Fernando Pessoa que exercem a profissão de medicina dentária desde os primeiros anos de atividade clínica (4º e 5º ano), a fim de prevenir possíveis lesões futuras, identificando e caracterizando os sintomas músculo-esqueléticos da atividade clínica, e relacionar as características individuais e profissionais com a dor referida pelos estudantes.
Este estudo é do tipo epidemiológico observacional transversal, correlacional. Quanto aos materiais e métodos para a colheita de dados, foi utilizado um questionário de caracterização da amostra, de preenchimento online rápido, de forma a obter informações acerca das características individuais e de trabalho dos indivíduos participantes no estudo, e o Questionário Nórdico Músculo-esquelético, que permite avaliar os sintomas músculo-esqueléticos.
Nos resultados, foram analisados dados de 130 estudantes (24.85 anos), 59 do 4º e 71 do 5º ano, de ambos os sexos. Foi observado que, nos últimos 12 meses, a dor na região do pescoço é a que prevalece em relação às outras (50.8%), seguida da lombar (46.9%), sendo estas as regiões com mais problemas nos últimos 7 dias (23.1%) e as que referem maior dor. A dor referida na lombar pelos estudantes do quinto ano apresentou-se correlacionada positivamente com as horas de prática clínica que os estudantes tinham atualmente.
Em conclusão, podemos dizer que as zonas do pescoço e lombar foram as destacadas como as mais problemáticas pelos estudantes, sendo necessária a análise da postura no estágio de cada ano de escolaridade, de modo a detetar fatores de risco.
The objective of this thesis is to raise awareness of the problem of musculoskeletal injuries of occupational origin in students at the University Fernando Pessoa who practice dentistry from the first years of clinical activity (4th and 5th year), in order to prevent possible future injuries, identifying and characterizing the musculoskeletal symptoms of clinical activity, and relating individual and professional characteristics with the pain reported by students. This study is a cross-sectional, correlational, observational epidemiological study. Regarding materials and methods for data collection, a sample characterization questionnaire was used, which was quickly completed online, in order to obtain information about the individual and work characteristics of the individuals participating in the study and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, which allows the assessment of musculoskeletal symptoms. In the results, data from 130 students (24.85 years old), 59 from the 4th and 71 from the 5th year, of both sexes were analyzed. It was observed that, in the last 12 months, pain in the neck region is the most prevalent compared to others (50.8%), followed by the lower back (46.9%), being the same regions with the most problems in the last 7 days (23.1%) and the ones reporting the most pain. The pain reported in the lower back by fifth-year students was positively correlated with the hours of clinical practice that the students currently had. In conclusion, we can say that the neck and lower back areas were the areas highlighted as the most problematic by the students, making it necessary to analyze the internship posture for each year of schooling to detect risk factors.
