A extração cirúrgica de terceiros molares inferiores é um procedimento comum na cirurgia oral. Como a extração é um procedimento traumático, podem ocorrer complicações pós – operatórias que com frequência envolvem as estruturas anatómicas da região do terceiro molar inferior. A lesão do nervo dentário inferior é uma das complicações graves que pode ocorrer. O profissional precisa ter conhecimento das técnicas cirúrgicas e do tratamento adequado dessas complicações indicados na literatura. O tratamento varia entre o clínico e o cirúrgico, sendo o clínico a primeira escolha, uma vez que a maioria dos casos se resolve espontaneamente. Concluiu-se que apesar dos diferentes meios de tratamento, ainda não existe um protocolo eficaz para o tratamento das lesões. Este trabalho visa descrever o tratamento da lesão do nervo dentário inferior após extração dos terceiros molares através de uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura.
Surgical dental extraction of inferior third molars is a medical act that, sometimes, dentists face in the clinic. As the extraction is a traumaticall procedure, it can cause some pos-extraction complications that usually affect the anatomical region of the third lower molar. The lower dental nerve lesion is one of the most complicated problems than can occur. Dentist needs to have knowledge of surgical techniques, mainly of the treatment of these complications. The treatment varies between the dentist and the surgeon, being the dentist the first choice, given that most cases resolve themselves spontaneously. Although there are many types of treatment, nowadays there isn’t an effective protocol. This work aims to describe the treatment of the damage of the lower alveolar nerve after the extraction of third molars, using the bibliography available.
