Abstract(s)
Tanto por razões estéticas como funcionais, o tratamento ortodôntico é cada vez mais
popular na sociedade moderna. A remoção do remanescente de compósito após o
tratamento ortodôntico consiste numa técnica que permite, tanto quanto possível, a
restituição da superfície do esmalte ao seu estado original sem induzir qualquer dano
iatrogénico. Foram vários os autores e investigadores que se dedicaram à pesquisa de
diferentes métodos de remoção de compósito remanescente, de modo a determinar
procedimentos eficientes de aplicação clínica.
Nesse sentido, este trabalho teve como objectivo a realização de uma revisão
bibliográfica da literatura, abordando diferentes métodos de remoção de compósito de
colagem de brackets, com base em evidências científicas, desde uma breve introdução
ao tema até aos possíveis efeitos prejudiciais no esmalte dentário.
Para o efeito, utilizou-se como bases de dados “MEDLINE/Pubmed”, “SciELO”,
“Science Direct” e “b-On”, com as seguintes palavras-chave: “brackets and removal
techniques”, “brackets and composite remnants”, “orthodontic adhesive removal”,
“orthodontic debonding”.
For both aesthetic and functional reasons, orthodontic treatment is getting increasingly popular in modern society. Removal of the resin remnant after orthodontic treatment is a technique that allows, as far as possible, the return of the enamel surface to its original state without inducing iatrogenic damage. Several authors and researchers dedicated themselves to the research of different techniques to remove composite remnant in order to determine efficient procedures for clinical application. In that sense, this paper had the objective of a bibliographical review of the literature, addressing different resin removal methods when bonding brackets, based on scientific evidence, from a brief introduction to the subject to the possible detrimental effects on the dental enamel. For this purpose, “MEDLINE / Pubmed”, “SciELO”, “Science Direct” and “b-On” were used as databases with the following keywords: “brackets and removal techniques”, “brackets and composite remnants”, “orthodontic adhesive removal”, “orthodontic debonding”.
