Abstract(s)
Introduction: Ballet is one of the most demanding types of dance, both to amateurs and professionals, due to the hours of training that causes joint and muscular stress, which favors the appearance of injuries, being one of principals in the hamstrings. Objective: To assess if an hamstring strengthening program for 4 weeks causes any changes in pain and flexibility of ballet dancers. Methodology: Hamstring flexibility was assessed using the 90/90 Straight Leg Raise Test (90/90 SLR), and pain, with the numerical scale pain, before and after an eccentric hamstrings strengthening program using the Nordic curl. Results: After analysing the obtained data, it was verified that there are statistically significant differences between the 90/90 SLR and numerical scale after performing the strengthening program with the Nordic curl. Conclusion: There are significant increases in joint range of motion and decreases in hamstring pain after the Nordic curl exercise.
