| dc.description.abstract | Nos últimos anos, têm-se prestado especial atenção ao papel do sistema imune inato no combate à infeção do VIH, com o intuito de compreender melhor qual a importância da resposta das células NK no impedimento da progressão da doença e no combate à infeção. Durante a resposta imune inata, várias alterações ocorrem sobre as células NK provocadas pelo VIH, como alterações na distribuição dos seus subconjuntos e da expressão de recetores NK, que prejudicam a atividade destas. Contudo, existem casos onde estas alterações não ocorrem protegendo os indivíduos da infeção ou da progressão da doença. Este trabalho visa a apresentação pormenorizada das alterações que ocorrem nas células NK antes, durante e após a infeção por VIH, assim como a apresentação de dois casos de sucesso contra a progressão do VIH. Recently, many authors have investigating the role of the innate immune system in the fight of HIV infection, in order to better understand the importance of the response of NK cells in preventing disease progression and fighting infection. During the innate immune response, several changes occur on NK cells caused by HIV, such as changes in the distribution of its subsets and expression of NK receptors that impair the activity of these. However, it was observed cases where these changes don’t occur, protecting individuals from infection or disease progression. This work aims at presenting details of the changes that occur in NK cells before, during and after HIV infection, as well as the presentation of two cases of success against the progression of HIV. | por |
