Abstract(s)
Cleaning and shaping the root canals are essential steps for the success of endodontic therapy. Several modeling instruments are currently available: the XP-Endo® Shaper system is a root canal instrumentation technique. The narrative review of the literature presented here results in the search for scientific articles published in the Pubmed database with the following conjugation of terms (title): XP Endo Shaper, XP Endo, micro-CT, Endodontic Instrumentation. A total of 40 scientific articles were obtained and after application of the free full text filter (inclusion criterion), 39 scientific articles were made available, and the relevance of 8 articles was subsequently assessed, giving their contribution to clarifying the subject at issue in this literature review: XP System - Endo® Sharper. Rotary systems are more efficient in terms of root canal treatment than manual systems, however the risk of (micro)fracture is higher. The XP-endo Shaper system demonstrates good performance in root canal treatment. In general, research points to the fact that the effectiveness of root canal treatment is greater when mechanical and chemical treatment is combined – and this is probably the most relevant aspect for the efficiency of endodontic treatment.
