Abstract(s)
Objectivo: Avaliar se a ocorrência de manifestações aquando da erupção da dentição decídua são uma consequência ou uma coincidência e se é similar entre irmãos.
Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo observacional, numa amostra por conveniência de 30 participantes com mais de 18 anos e com mais do que 1 filho. Os dados foram recolhidos através de um questionário autoaplicável, distribuído de forma aleatória a pacientes de uma clínica de medicina dentária do distrito do Porto.
Resultados: A maioria das crianças apresentou pelo menos um sinal/sintoma, antes e durante a erupção da dentição decídua. Os cinco sinais/sintomas mais frequentes foram a irritabilidade, febre, levar a mão à boca/sucção digital, tincar objectos duros e o aumento da salivação.
Conclusões: Embora a erupção da dentição decídua seja coincidente com os sintomas manifestados no decorrer deste processo, pode não ser a causa direta dos mesmos.
