Abstract(s)
Objective: To determine the effect of different methods of physical therapy treatment to reduce the Cobb angle of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (IS). Methodology: Computerized research in the PubMed, PEDro and Web of Science databases of randomized controlled studies that evaluated the effect of a physiotherapeutic treatment in reducing the Cobb angle. Results: 82 articles were obtained, of which 6 articles were included, with a total of 352 individuals. Significant decreases in the Cobb angle were found with different physiotherapeutic protocols such as: Schroth protocol, guided selfcorrection exercises, core stabilization and active self-correction, combined with the use of orthoses. Conclusion: Individuals with EI showed a decrease in the Cobb angle after the implementation of different conservative physiotherapeutic protocols, noting, however, the relevance of including physical therapy along with orthosis in the conservative treatment of IS.
