El presente artículo deconstruye el concepto de “literatura nacional” demostrando cómo, en un sentido amplio y despojando las clasificaciones de lastres decimonónicos, podrían adscribirse a la categoría de “narrativa uruguaya” ejemplos como los del español Félix de Azara o el británico Charles Darwin. The present article deconstructs the concept of “national literature” showing how, in a broad sense and against the taxonomies typical of the XIXth Century, the works of the Spanish Félix de Azara or the British Charles Darwin should be considered as examples of the so called “uruguayan narrative”.
