bases de dados eletrónicas: PubMed, Google Scholar e B-On.
Globally, AIDS is still one of the leading causes of death among adults today, despite therapeutic advances. In addition, it is known that a very significant percentage of HIV / AIDS patients have at least one clinical manifestation in the oral cavity associated with this disease. Therefore, a certain professional training is necessary to proceed to its diagnosis and to a correct treatment, taking into account the specificities of this viral pathology, we must take into account the risk of transmission and the measures to be adopted in case of accidental exposure. A narrative review was carried out with the primary objective of exposing knowledge that the dentist should have in mind when approaching the patient with HIV / AIDS, with a greater emphasis on oral manifestations, care to be taken to reduce the risk of transmission in the office and mode in case of accidental exposure to the virus. The review was carried out based on articles published in journals available in several electronic databases: PubMed, Google Scholar and B-On.
